Moving To London - 3 Months Going Strong!

Regent Street

Regent Street

3 months ago to the day (July 4th 2018) I moved from my hometown of Plymouth to London. Although I had already done 3 years of uni, in Birmingham so another giant city, this seemed like a much bigger step. No longer would I have the safety net of the course or my halls of residence. Instead it was get a job, get a flat and kind of hope for the best.

Anyone who knows me understands that I am never one to shy away from a challenge. Moving to London was the best option for me after graduation, therefore I was going to move hell or high-water to make sure that that is where I ended up! Luckily for me, shortly before I finished university, one of my best friends (who lived in London already) had a spare room in her flat, making one of the smoothest transitions into my new abode that I’ve ever had! However, I was only in this flat for 2 months, and have recently moved to a brand new flat that I love even more!

So 3 months in! What am I up to?

Job

I was luck to get hired before I’d even graduated and I started work on the 9th July (so quickly approaching my 3-month mark there too. I work at Hamleys Toy Store, as part of their entertainment and events team. I’d like to say that I finally have a ‘grown-up’ job, but that could not be further from the truth! I actually spend my days dressing up in costume: Rag Doll, Princess, Artist, Wizard, and can be caught doing various demonstrates to the tourists, dancing on Regent Street to various pop/party bangers, leading parties or V.I.P tours and even being the famous Hamley Bear himself – bet you my jobs more fun than yours!

I adore this job, but I do need to find something alongside it by the start of the new year – one thing I’ve realised, London ain’t cheap!

Voluntary Placement

I was also lucky enough to secure a voluntary placement, more fixed within the field I wanted to work in. I do 1 or 2 days a week at House of Three London! I do everything from moodboards, to story boarding, research and lots of blog posts (so go check out my other work on their blog Three Little Secrets – launching soon)

It’s teaching me very valuable things about the field I want to work in and it was actually what finally encouraged me to start my blog – so thank you House of Three!

Days Off

Although they are few and far between, I am spending my days off hunting down all the best places London has to offer! I’ve visited beautiful cafes such as Feya or Peggy Porshcen’s, I’ve been shopping in Camden, in Westfield, on Oxford Street. I’ve explored Notting Hill and Portobello Road, visited St Durnsten’s in the East, Ledenhall Market - slowly but surely exploring incredible (Instagramable) London….and I am loving it!!!

The Only Way Is Up

For me, the only way is up! My blog continues to grow every day, with new weekly blog posts, increasing Instagram followers and even starting twitter. I was also lucky enough to be accepted as a brand ambassador for Halifornia Apparel, so I can’t wait to buy my goodies and get representing!

Lastly, Christmas is just found the corner (kinda – 3 months away) so hopefully the next few months will be just as incredible. My first Christmas in London will be unforgettable!

I’m here, in the world, in the big city and I’m ready to make some memories!

So get out their and live your life – you’ll regret it if you don’t!

Stay Perfect, Messy People.
